We aim to subsidize education for all in India by providing scholarships and vocational training programs.
ABOUT US
BEGINNINGS
Tara Chand Maheshwari, a centenarian & Rotarian for over 30 years, staunchly believed in the power of education. Being an LLB & MA, he knew the importance of education. Determined to ensure that all of his kids got higher education, he educated his seven daughters & one son to the BA level despite his limited income. After retiring, he invested a significant amount of his money into charity. Over five years ago, he started the Tara Shanti Maheshwari Trust to educate India's youth. He dedicated the trust to his loving wife - Shanti Maheshwari - who supported & inspired him in all of these endeavors.
VISION
Dr. Rina Malpani, the daughter of Tara Chand Maheshwari & former head of the Rotary Club of Kolkatta, is also singularly dedicated to educating her community. Through TSMT, she grants scholarships to qualified applicants and funds vocational projects to help rural women.
PROJECTS
Ek Nayi Pehcan
TSMT started a vocational center where underprivileged women learn the basics of sewing and are guided through the job application process.
Scholarships
TSMT also gives out scholarships to low-income, qualified students.
Toilet Construction
TSMT has funded the construction of toilets in schools in rural Bengal.
